What is "The Promise"
In April 1997, Presidents Clinton, Bush, Ford and First Lady Nancy Reagan representing President Ronald Reagan, joined General Colin Powell in the Presidents Summit for America's Future. They offered a challenge for all Americans to help at-risk youth gain access to five basic tools that create opportunities for success.
These resources are know as the America's Promise Five Fundamental Resources, The Promises:
* Caring Adults
* Safe Places
* A Healthy Start
* An Effective Education
* Opportunities to Help Others
America's Promise ask every community, organization and individual in the nation to help fulfill the Five Promises for every young person.
