Eastern Panhandle Relatives as Parents Program- Berkeley, Jefferson
The RAPP group began in 2001 and presently 150 families are members. Monthly support meetings serve as a point of social contact and resource discovery and consist of trainings on parenting, latest issues working with educational systems and courts and self development. Children attend activities developed especially for them like the Xpress YOUrself Youth Program. The Five Promises are embraced in the RAPP group.

High Rocks for Girls – Pocahontas, Greenbrier, Nicholas
High Rocks Camp Steele Program provides opportunity for any of the 70 girls in the High Rocks Program to attend a free eight day summer camp, focusing on positive bonding between teens and adults. High Rocks believes once girls have a template for making positive connections with adults they are more likely and able to seek out positive relationships with teachers, neighbors, coaches, family members and others. Daily activities include sharing responsibilities for cooking and cleanup, “Girls Group” discussion, one-on-one and small group activities, hiking, art projects, games, daily exercise classes and nightly campfires.

Regional Teen Institute Coordinated by the Adolescent Health Initiative of United Way of Central WV- Boone, Clay, Kanawha, Putnam
Since 1996 the Regional Teen Institute program has helped young people to become leaders in prevention of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, violence and other critical health decisions. This year approximately 70 students, 20 high school youth staff students and 20 adults will come together in student workshops consisting of small discussion groups, fun activities and develop action plans for sharing what they learn in their communities. The Five Promises and the 40 Developmental Assets are two of the resources used during the Regional Teen Institute.

Parenting classes will be provided in coordination with the Healthy Children Healthy Families Initiative and Community Connections for at risk couples. Approximately 100 attendees will end the day leaving with a new sense of how to become involved in their community through increased volunteer opportunities and refreshed about life. The program will enhance the well-being of families and encourage Caring Adults to take part in the lives of children. The outreach for the programs include, teens, adults, married teens and adults, parents and relativities of youth, Child Law services, Starting Points and other community partners.

Since 2004 Planet Xtreme Teen Center provides after school and weekend programming for youth in grades 7-12. Over 40 Caring Adults volunteer and staff the center with a true concern about the future of young people and the leaders of tomorrow. Planet Xtreme provides a Safe Places for youth and adult partnerships. The Peacemakers project, youth with Caring Adult Mentors work to make the community a better place through beautification projects in the summer, landscaping several highly traveled areas of the community. Other projects through Planet Xtreme are Summer Day Camps and Back-To- School Bug Juice Café.

Fit Together Mother/Daughter Physical Activity Project – Ohio
Fit Together project is to encourage the development of a strong moth/daughter, parent/child relationship through physical activity opportunities and instructional sessions. Other essential topics include nutritional awareness with education in eating disorders, positive self-esteem, healthy choices with substance abuse prevention and healthy relationships. The 40 Developmental Assets and the Five Promises are resources provided in Fit Together.

Girls on the Run of Randolph County – Randolph
"Girls on the Run of Randolph County” and “Girls on Tract” is a structured character development program that uses training for a 5K event as a means to teach essential life skills. Reaching girl’s 3-8 grade with lessons based on the whole person concept which stresses the importance of developing spiritual, emotional, mental, social and physical parts of the individual to create a well-balanced, whole person. Some of the concepts of the program consist of healthy growth in areas of self-respect, teamwork, community building including a community project. “Girls on the Run” embraces all of the Five Promises with the mission to educate young girls for a life-time of self-respect and healthy living.

Greenbrier East High School Cross County Boosters – Greenbrier
Caring Adults will provide a summer enrichment training camp for the cross country athletes through instruction and guidance on physical conditioning, core training for runners, healthy food choices, prevention and treatment of sports injuries and mind/body connection. Valuable lessons in taking care of the only body the campers will have for life will be learned as well as many other topics such as intelligent eating, exercising, goal setting and personal social life choices. As the Caring Adults are giving back to the campers the camper’s community project will be to participate in the local Relay for Life.
